Denttabs is a Berlin company: this is where we produce our formula, create the product design and operate as a company. Berlin is our home for research and development. To produce the tablets, we work with partners who have the professional and certified know-how. Our tablets are currently manufactured by a contract company in Poland. As we grow as a company, we plan to build a new production center in Berlin.

The tablet form means we save a lot of weight and volume, thus reducing CO2 emissions during transport. Our packaging with 125 toothpaste tablets weighs 42g and is therefore significantly lighter than conventional toothpaste, which weighs an average of 75g (since our packaging with 125 toothpaste tablets is equivalent to two conventional toothpaste tubes, it is actually 150g 😉). In addition, our toothpaste tablets are manufactured in the EU, which significantly shortens transport routes. Each bag of toothpaste tablets currently produces only 164.2g of CO2.

Denttabs is the first toothpaste substitute that can be sold unpackaged and saves large amounts of packaging even when minimally packaged. This means that much less CO2 is released during disposal than with conventional toothpaste tubes.

The CO2 emissions generated during transport depend on the type of transport (means of transport, model), the weight of the goods, the size of the goods, the distance and the fuel used.

Once the bag has been opened, denttabs will last for at least 1 year if stored in a dry place.

The Mint toothpaste tablets contain:

Microfine cellulose fibers (microcrystalline cellulose): The cellulose fibers in the toothpaste tablets are obtained from woody parts of plants. Naturally FSC-certified and grown in the EU. This is a long-chain polysaccharide that can polish your teeth ultra-smoothly, right into the gaps between your teeth. This is why new particles simply roll off the tooth surfaces. Deposits, also known as plaque, can practically not form in the first place.

Citric Acid: Stimulates saliva flow. The increased saliva flow with natural calcium and phosphate ions causes faster remineralization of the enamel and the tooth.

Sodium Bicarbonate : Also known as baking soda, it reacts with citric acid to adjust the pH of the tablet to a neutral value while brushing your teeth.

Silica : Acts as a gentle cleaning agent.

Amisoft (Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate): A mild and natural surfactant consisting of plant-based fatty acids and the amino acid glutamic acid, which is isolated from plant proteins. When brushing, it helps to bind proteins, fats and carbohydrates with water so that they can be washed out when rinsing.

Natural mint flavor : Together with stevia extract and menthol, it provides a pleasant feeling of freshness in the mouth.

Eugenol : Part of our natural mint flavor. Eugenol is also known as the characteristic flavoring of cloves.

Xanthan Gum : A natural polysaccharide that is also used as a thickening and gelling agent. In the toothpaste tablet, it provides the pleasant creaminess after chewing the tablet.

Stevia (steviosides): A sweet-tasting plant that, together with the aroma and menthol, provides the good taste. Steviosides are not sugar, but proteins that have a characteristic sweet taste. This is why steviosides cannot cause tooth decay.

Sodium fluoride: Serves to remineralize tooth enamel and can be particularly helpful for sensitive teeth, but also for incipient caries.

Magnesium stearate : A herbal excipient necessary for tablet production.

The Strawberry toothpaste tablets contain:

Sodium fluoride: Serves to remineralize tooth enamel and can be particularly helpful for sensitive tooth necks, but also for incipient caries.

Magnesium stearate : A herbal excipient necessary for tablet production.

There are two ingredients in Denttabs Mint toothpaste tablets that can cause allergies:

Menthol: This substance ensures fresh breath and leaves a pleasantly cool feeling. It migrates through your mucous membranes and could cause allergic reactions.

Eugenol: Eugenol is part of our mint flavor and a potent allergen.

In the future, we will launch toothpaste tablets without menthol and flavour for allergy sufferers.

Since you spit out the toothpaste tablet after brushing, you can use the tablets without worry. We have also heard from many users that Denttabs works very well for them during pregnancy. This is because the non-foaming toothpaste tablet does not cause nausea while brushing, unlike toothpaste.

You can swallow denttabs without fluoride because the ingredients are harmless. For the version with fluoride, we are legally obliged to put a warning on the packaging. This is a precautionary measure to prevent excessive swallowing of fluoride.

zerooo schließt Kreisläufe: Materialen werden wiederverwendet (10x), bis diese wieder zu 100% recycelt werden. Dies kann gewährleistet werden, da die Flasche aus einem Monomaterial (PET) besteht, ebenso bei den Verschlüssen, die aus 100% PP sind. Im Status Quo des Recyclingsystems kann dies noch nicht für den Großteil der gesammelten Wertstoffe auf Grund von Mischplastiken aber auch teurer Aufbereitungsprozesse sichergestellt werden, was weiterhin zu einem enormen Verlust wertvoller Energie und Ressourcen führt. Gleichzeitig ist das Mehrwegsystem aus der Getränkeindustrie schon seit vielen Jahrzehnten erprobt und richtungsweisend für einen verantwortungsvollen Umgang mit begrenzten Ressourcen.

Siehe Ökobilanz von zerooo (VÖ Q1 2025).Mehrweg ist grundsätzlich und in den meisten Fällen umweltfreundlicher, weil der Großteil des Ressourcen- und Energieeinsatzes in der Beschaffung und Herstellung anfällt. Wenn wir also eine Flasche mehrfach benutzen, können wir diesen Teil der Ökobilanz durch die Wiederbenutzung einsparen. Außerdem fällt am Ende der Lebenszeit eines Gebindes, anders als bei Einweg, fast kein Müll an, so dass wir nicht immer mehr Ressourcen für die Verpackungen benötigen.

Die Rückgabe des Leerguts erfolgt in den meisten Drogerien wie bei Sodastream CO2-Kartuschen oder Getränke-Leergut an der Kasse. Bei teilnehmenden Märkten im Lebensmitteleinzelhandel können die zerooo-Gebinde am Pfandautomaten zurückgegeben werden. Grundsätzlich können die Gefäße in allen Geschäften zurückgeben werden, die Produkte in zerooo-Mehrweg führen. Ja, zerooo Mehrweg-Pfandflaschen sind grundsätzlich mit allen Pfandautomaten kompatibel, allerdings machen noch nicht alle Handelspartner mit. Das Leergut wird überall dort zurückgenommen, wo es Produkte in zerooo gibt. Bei teilnehmenden Drogerieketten wird das Leergut an der Kasse zurückgenommen, wie auch Getränke-Leergut. Da sich (noch) nicht alle Händler zerooo angeschlossen haben, kann leider auch (noch) nicht garantiert werden, dass es überall zurückgenommen wird. Nein, der Deckel soll draufbleiben, die Sortierung erfolgt an der zerooo Waschstraße. Dort wird der Deckel von der Flasche entfernt und gereinigt für die Wiederverwendung. Alternativ werden die beiden Komponenten dem jeweiligen Materialstrom und somit dem Recycling zugeführt. Die Pumpen und Verschlüsse verhindern das Auslaufen von Restprodukt und schützen das Gewinde für eine längere Wiederverwendung. Gefäße ohne Verschlüsse werden dennoch zurückgenommen.

Die leeren Flaschen werden aufbereitet und bis zu 10x wiederverwendet, bis sie letztlich sortenrein recycelt werden.

Bisher gibt es denttabs Mint mit Fluorid in der zerooo-Flasche. Wir arbeiten daran, nach und nach auch die anderen Sorten in den Mehrweg-Pfandflaschen anbieten zu können.
