Now it's official: What we at Denttabs have been talking about for over 20 years is finally being heard at the EU level. The new EU directive on urban wastewater treatment sends a clear message: Toothpaste also contains substances that are problematic for our wastewater—and ultimately for all of us.

Micropollutants: Small but mighty.

Toothpaste is one of the causes of micropollutants that enter all types of water, and in the worst case, drinking water. Until now, technologies to reliably filter out these substances have been lacking.

Now a new, fourth purification stage is to be introduced! And the bill? It will likely (finally!) be paid by all those who put these substances into circulation in the first place: the manufacturers.

Toothpaste = environmental problem?

Yes, unfortunately. Most toothpastes contain:

  • Preservatives

  • germ inhibitors

  • Stabilizers

It's not easy to say exactly what ends up in wastewater and thus potentially in our bodies if it isn't completely filtered out! What has now been officially confirmed, however, is that these substances are a problem.

This realization suddenly raises a central question:

If these substances are considered harmful and should be filtered out, why is it even permissible for us to consume them daily through cosmetics like toothpaste? And: Is tap water really clean? Why has this been kept quiet for so long?

What makes Denttabs different and better than toothpaste?

Everything. Since our founding, we have consistently avoided anything that isn't sensible, pure, and natural.

The original idea: water-free, optimal dental care.

Therefore our tabs come without:

  • Preservatives

  • germ inhibitors

  • Microplastics

  • Artificial fragrances

  • Parabens

Instead: Ingredients that you also find in food or nature.

This way, you're not just brushing your teeth—you're also protecting yourself and the environment. Denttabs toothpaste tablets are safe for wastewater! This has been confirmed by the Berlin Water Company.

Why this is important - for each of us.

The EU's action now is a milestone. However, it's far more important how each of us can decide what ends up in our bathrooms—and later in our wastewater.

And let’s be honest: brushing your teeth shouldn’t be a risk.

That's why we rely on a dental care product that is clean (and cleans!) - in the truest sense of the word.

Our conclusion

  • Toothpaste potentially contains substances that pollute our water

  • The EU wants to filter out these micropollutants from now on - and the polluters should pay

  • This officially confirms: There are critical substances in the wastewater

  • It is absurd that we should inject these substances daily via toothpaste directly into our mouths and into our blood via the mucous membranes

  • With Denttabs you avoid problematic ingredients right from the start
